MBA is only for engineers.

I am perusing my Bcom and will be appearing CAT this year (well I am trying CA also) After doing few researches over net I found out that most of the students in b schools are from engineering back ground. Why it is so? Is it B schools that prefer the engineers or its engineers who are better equipped to be MBAs. Institutes like IITs don’t allow non- engineers to appear JMET. There are many institutes which offer courses only for engineers. Why is this partiality? Actually I am yet to start seriously preparing for CAT and the experience I got in pondering among all the b schools/ CAT exam for last 3-4 days is that “ CAT is only for engineers” I don’t know why it is so but I have the believe in my self and I am going to give it my best try

There are many reasons and

There are many reasons and the best one is “Most of the school pass outs with good academic record opts for engineering after 12th" So it’s like students with good marks in class 10th/12th making it into b schools not engineers.

Its not true that IITs

Its not true that IITs don’t allow non-engineering students to appear JMET. Students with economics/commerce back ground can appear JMET after completing their post-graduation. Engineering has been one of the most successful careers in India for last couple of decades and the special thanks should go to our first Prime Minister Mr. Neheru for starting world class institutes like IITs. Most of the best brain in school goes to Engineering in India and they get success wherever they go after that. It’s because their basics are strong. It is nothing to do the non-sense stuffs they read during the 4 years of college life. While preparing for engineering one gives a lot of attention to mathematics and do increase his/her analytical skills which gets better with time in engineering colleges and that definitely helps in cracking CAT and other similar exams. But mind you those guys (very few) who you feel are very strong in quants have developed those qualities in a long run through out their school and college life. It’s just not that while doing engineering every thing happens.
